The Usual is over

Happy New Year people!!! 2012 is here with us.  "Not by might, nor by power but by His Spirit[1]" that we are here to witness the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

2011 is gone. 2012 is here. Everyone has a story of how their 2011 was like, but no one knows how 2012 will be. All the plans we have for this year we commit them to God by faith. The righteous live by faith. Well, who are the righteous?? Thanks to today's sermon I got to learn a few things that I think will be helpful to us.

Our righteousness is like filthy rags before God[2] but our righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus to all we believe[3]. So where am I going with all these? God, the Bible records, made him who had no sin to be sin so that in him we might become the righteousness of God[4] Him who was without sin is Jesus. God sent one who is blameless and pure to die for me whose righteousness is like filthy rags that I may BECOME not BE LIKE but BECOME THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD that is received through faith in my savior.

Whoa…so?? *Tiny brain monologue sessions* Follow me>>>>the unusual is over!!

By faith my dear, we have God’s righteousness. This means that how we walk, how we eat, think, sleep, talk, dance etc. etc. is like God. We acquire His character. When God gives us His word, it carries His nature. Our measure is in our SIGHT. Start the New Year with a VISION. We have already established that indeed we have a firm foundation in Christ. With the new revelation, we have the power to plan for the year. The Lord says, WRITE YOUR VISION DOWN. Habakkuk 2:2 Do you have a vision for the year?? Have you sat down and known from the Lord what He expects from you this year? Do you know your position in the Kingdom? Do you know your heavenly rights that the devil may attempt to suffocate them??Where is your faith this year? In God or in Man?? Whom do you live for?? Where do you belong?? Chart out your course this year my friend. Know in whom you live, move and have your being!

Things of God have life, life in abundance. Start the year in God and persist on in Him till His second coming. Maybe you began the year without God, backslidden or totally unaware that you are royalty!! Well here’s your chance to start a new life: Invite Jesus in your life through this prayer:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner living through my strength. Today, I want to know my Father. So Lord, I welcome you to my heart, that I may receive eternal life. Holy Spirit walk with me and teach me to know God’s heart and will. I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord. In Jesus name, Amen”

Amen Amen!!! This is a year of unusual happenings. Where the old mentality and life is gone and the new has come. Forget 2011 aches and pains; carry the lessons and the blessings only. Every miracle of yesterday carries tomorrow’s prophetic message. All you need is faith in God even as small as a mustard seed.  Value friendships, put God first, cherish family and always be thankful to God. When praises go up, blessings come down.

Nothing comes easy, there is a cost. The cost of discipleship. A principle is not a principle until it costs you something. So forge on but in the right direction this year. May God bless your vision, clear your sight, guide your heart and open the paths for you that above all You may meet Him and forever testify of His glory in Jesus name Amen.

Cheers to a new year, another chance for us to get it right and be a blessing. The usual YOU, the usual LIFE, the usual THINKING, the usual LIVING is gone.

#Note to many selves

I think I have had it with people hurting and crying because of fellow humans. How many tears are shed because someone somewhere did not care that a heart is a living organ?? Well, (read this on twitter), "I wish intelligence was for sale, I would buy you a whole GB!!!"And to some even a terabyte would not suffice.

I love men and women who make use of their minds before they act, before you tossle that heart around, do mind games and play solitaire with the hearts...avoiding heart dramas and hurt episodes. I am not talking to the care-free souls ....such need Christ first.

this is a note to many selves, mine included, you can choose to play with things say cards, ropes etc but HEARTS are not in the list of "Items you can play with"

Ladies and gentlemen, if we are not ready to take responsibility, then choose to play solitaire, FIFA, et.al. Last time I checked, heart games was not listed in the All-africa Games or the Olympics.

God has entrusted us with alot, and every deed shall be put to judgement. A heart is beloved of God, kindly be found faithful as a caretaker of His creation.

Come 2012, can we be more honourable in how we treat our fellow humans! I do not think it is human sleeping and enjoying your life, while you killed a soul, sucked the life out of it due to greed or other reasons excuses that we might have.

*this is to all who are waiting on God, do not give up. Never even contemplate to do so. For with God, we have eternal life and peace which cannot be compared to what the World has to offer. Forge on until He blesses you, gives you a new name, until you meet our Lord face to face.

2011 ends...dare not  enter 2012 without having Jesus. Be Born again,not of flesh but by the Spirit. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. This is what salvation is. You need Jesus...I need Him...I have HIM.

Do you know Jesus?? How else will you reach Peniel if you know not the Father??

CHRISTmas Meaning.

The magic of Christmas in not in the presents but in His presence!!!!

Christmas to me is an extension of what we have been doing and not a one off happening that is easily scrapped off your mind come the dawn of 26th December every year. Christmas without Christ is like having baby shower in a bachelor's pad!!! Christmas, a time to commemorate the birth of Christ, has been replaced with merry making, exchanging gifts and what not!!!

"unto us a KING is born in a manger, the saviour of the world". the best we can do is to have CHRISTmas in our hearts. Let Christ rule and reign our hearts now and ever more. Christ is not found under the Christmas tree, or through the chimney as Hollywood has made us believe, or through the thousand of beer bottles that are guzzled down.

Had this day been your day, the best we would do is to put a smile on your face. Lets make Jesus happy as we celebrate Christmas.

Bring love to every empty soul, strength to every dying heart. Spread love to that beggar you pass by everyday, touch an enemy and #spreadlove. Love is the heartbeat of God.

Merry Christmas.....Christ is the only reason why we celebrate Christmas.

My Lessons from 2011

Wow!! 11 days and 2011 is gone, 2012 here we come people!!! I remember when we were approaching 2011, I wrote, "For life is short, Eternity is long my friend..."

Now 2011 is fading away and 2012 is here.

We are older, probably richer, to some happier, more depressed, or did we add years to life but not value to it?

For me, this year marked 11 years of salvation in Christ and its been the rise and fall of Bev. I fall, i hurt, I dust off, I rise and I note my pothole in my life's highway. For the more I grow old, the wiser I would love to become....so here are my 20 greatest life lessons from 365 days, 8760 hours...etc etc...that's how long a year is!!! :-)

1. You shall have no other gods BEFORE or BESIDES ME!!!
2. Be a witness in the BOARDROOM too, not only in the church.
3. Life is all about relationships, the rest is just details.
4. Honour the Lord with your tithes and offerings (yes with both), test Him with your giving and watch Him open the floodgates of Heaven for you!
5. Nothing beats God, not brokenness, $$rate, heartbreaks, loss of loved ones!!!NOTHING!!!
6. In His own timing, not in MINE!!!HIS!!! He maketh things beautiful.
7. Friends!!!TRUE FRIENDS are lifetime jewels!!! Handle them with care!
8. I discovered this late, but better late than never! Develop strategies of how to MAKE, SAVE,GROW, GIVE and  SPEND money!!! Have a personal financial action plan.Write your vision down and make your request known to God!!
9. As your spending increases, so should your giving!! It is better to give than to receive
10. Smile smile smile!!! Your smile is someone else's ray of hope:-)
11. Own your lifestyle!! just because  its trending does not mean its compulsory or acceptable!!
12. Thank you, excuse me, I am sorry>>>>should always be on your lips 24-7!!
13. COURTESY goes a long way!! Reply texts, answer calls, call people back, respond to peoples' comments....I do not believe some people are broke 12 months in a row!!!
14. LOVE is beautiful!!!
15. Bless your boss, speak blessings into your employer!!!QUIT WHINING.
16. Truth without photo-shop, love without pretence, friendship without hypocrisy, help with no strings attached makes the world a better place
17. Its okay to CRY...its natures way of cleansing your eyes
18. EAT HEALTHILY, DRINK LOTS of WATER>>>>its cheaper than hitting the gym or trying out expensive weight loss techniques.
19. YOUR BODY, HIS TEMPLE #enough said
20. Have fun, God too has a sense of humour!!
    

Per Second Billing Attitude

''New Levels, new devils!'' so goes the saying! to some, we have added a little bit of sugar to the saying, ''new levels, greater angels too''.

In this cold season, some drive, some walk and others manage to catch a bus or train. We are blessed to have income to purchase the hot coffees or chocolates, the sumptuous lunch time meals we indulge in. We have our warm duvets, we have the gift of friendships to help us enjoy the weekend. We are blessed!!

Human nature limits us though. When we are too blessed, we take the blessings for granted and think we deserve more than the Heavens grant us. That is why we  rant about the rains, instead of thanking God for the little blessings. Have we forgotten that a few months ago our country was high and dry, with drought looming over our heads.

When the traffic builds up!! We curse at the government, the cars, the fuel prices, the numerous vitz filling the highways. Lord!!!

When we get an opportunity to enjoy some time at Olepolos or enjoy a game drive, instead of thanking God for the cash flow, we feel we deserve the blessings!! Forgetting to tip the waiter, if you can or assuming a donkey just served you, we hurl insults at them

Instead of counting our blessings, for if our God slept for even one second, it could have been worse!!!

How I pray, that you and I would assume the per second billing attitude. That each second, without delay, that we would notice our blessings and give thanks. ''Give thanks with a thankful heart'' says our Bible

When praises go up, blessings come down my friend!! A thankful heart blesses our Lord. Ephesians 5.20 says: always give thanks to God the Father for EVERYTHING. This means the good, the bad and the ugly.

Can we take up the per second billing attitude to God!! Thank Him for the gift of family, for faithful friends, for the opportunity to read your Bible, for saving us in our Youth, for our mindsets, for ability to make right decisions, for a loving partner, for bus fare/fuel, for coming through in big and small ways, for ability to walk and function well, for safety, for gift of sight and vision, for beautiful smiles, for a place to call home, for a sense of belonging, for the CROSS, for in love He gave Him to us and for us!!

God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. The question is, have you used one to say "thank you?" William A. Ward

Well, sometimes it takes a song lyric

Othertimes it takes a good friend

To remind you of who you are amidst the storms

Well for me, this is God's avenue of getting His message home

For my Daddy loves me beyond how my mind can fathom

This time He used both

In the midst of my times with me,myself and I

I got to remind myself 3 things:

• Bev, be careful not to keep learning lessons all your life

A very good friend of mine, whom i respect very much, reminded me that life is a learning field. Each day has its own wisdom, but not each day are we meant to keep learning and re-learning the lessons of life. There's time for everything under the sky.

• Bev, know your strength

We crash down but we never die. It is vital for one to know the strength of their anchor to last through their storms. for how else will we sail our ship across the waters, wade through the waters and conquer what lies ahead of us?

• Know your power

Your power is your key to this life. I am not talking about money, position or godfathers. I am talking about God! Our wisdom is foolishness before Him, He who knew us before we were formed in our mother's womb. God is our power!!! I was young, now I am old(well not literally but advanced abit :-) ] but I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor their kids begging for food. Know your God!!!

Run to the Waters

Have you ever wanted to sail off the harbour but just wouldn't?

Ever wanted to take up that new job but your thinking 'what if you don't live up to their expectation?'

What about taking that step to commit to something but fear creeps in?

Easier to hold on than to let go, don't you think?

Easily getting used to our comfort zone

Change is not easy, this much I know

I love my comfy corner that does not do me any good

Risk is how life is lived and enjoyed

I mean how else has Kenya's rich history been made

It is through courageous men and women who chose to run in to the waters

To forget their comfy zones

Forget their regular cup of tea

And venture out

God reminded me about Jesus and Walking on water. Mt 14:22-36

"Jesus made the disciples go ahead of Him.He later joined them in the evening. well How? is the question. the scriptures record that Jesus began walking on water towards the disciples and the disciples were terrified. Peter, then challenged Christ and said really!!!if its You then tell me to come to You"

Peter dared to venture into the waters. Then Christ said COME

Step #1 is to start your Journey. Don't be afraid. Just Go. Go into the waters. the shallow and the deep alike. the still and the stormy ones. Courage is doing what you are afraid to do. Martin Luther said that we must build dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear.

Do not fear, For the Lord is with you. God is calling us to the waters for He is there too. He cannot call you where He is not found!!! Trust Him and walk to Him.

Fear not for you will not be put to shame!!! the Lord does not play hide and seek with His children. Tricks are of the devil. He has a good plan for you when He calls you out to the waters.

Step #2 Eyes on the Prize
Peter walked on water until he saw the wind and began being afraid. The Bible says that PETER BEGAN TO SINK THEREAFTER. and he cried out to the Lord.

The lesson here is to fix our eyes upon Christ while we are in the waters. He is our rock and helper. All other ground is sinking sand my friends. David said, I was young and now I am old and I have never seen the righteous forsaken. When we focus on the enemy, our troubles become impossible. But when we focus on God, nothing is impossible. Don't give the enemy any talk time or airtime. He is not worth our focus at any given time. Have faith in He who holds your world and watch Him form your world beautifully in a manner that no eye has seen nor any mind perceived.

Even when we begin to sink, call on God. he is ready and might to save us my friends.

This was my word for this week.

Bev will walk by faith In Christ Jesus
Bev will fix her eyes on her Saviour
Bev will not be afraid of the waters
Bev will not give any airtime or talk time to the Devil

Who is with me on this one??

Even when we have ventured and failed before, there is Hope
failure is not a death sentence

In the words of Mignon: People are made of flesh and blood and a miracle fibre called courage

And sometimes even to live is an act of courage on its own.

Can we now fearlessly conquer the remaining part of the week?

Oh Yeiyaaa!!!!!

Can you stand to be counted?

Sometimes I wonder if we live according to God's plan

Or does God try to work according to our plan?

Well, do the angels have a culture shock when they are sent for missions on earth

Does Christ get angry when He watches over us through the day and the night

What about Queen Esther?

Does she ever wonder where did women lose their morality and respect

Well, she understood how to earn favour with a king, not just any man

And to earn it rightfully on your knees not through the sheets

What about Moses??

When the Israelites worshiped false gods while he was up the mountain

He got angry when he descended and broke the tablets of the commandments

Well, if Moses came now what will he say of our state of lawlessness and arrogance towards our maker

I am just wondering

We are full of ourselves

We have become our own makers
  
WE have forgotten what it means to be in awe and full of respect to God

We have ignored the value of self respect, respect for others and self sacrifice

It is a tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye

It is my right to have another woman’s husband

It is normal to be sexually active by the age of 12yrs

It is fashionable to be 24 and have 3kids to your name

It is legal by unwritten standards to live off someones wealth

It is morally right for a man to shift gears and multitask a circle of lovers

That is our world

Does God get angry with us from His throne

Well, some would say nope!!!For He still blesses us and favours us

The thing with my Father in Heaven is that He is a gentleman

He gives me the power to choose

He has given His law

We all know what God says of sexual sins, of adultery, of idolatry, of stealing, of lying and what not

I mean with a Bible made up of 66 books

God covered all facets of life

Yet this is the generation that says ‘praise the Lord on Sunday after sleeping with a married man??!!!

The generation that believes that not even God knows how much libido we have yet He is the creator??!!!

The generation that strives out of selfishly acquired wealth

The one that would rather party all weekend but not even dare educate that orphan who struggles to get his education

The generation that believes marriages  don’t work yet God the creator instituted it

The generation that believes it is wiser than its creator yet a child cannot be wiser than his parents!!!!

This is my generation!!!

But I refuse to be cliché

I refuse to live by the book, the book of the world

So help me God

If anyone lacks wisdom let him ask of God, the scriptures record this

Lord I pray that you may grant me wisdom to choose my path

Grant me strength for my anchor to withstand the strong winds of the enemy

Help me Lord to me a REMNANT!!!

For this is my generation,

But this is not my path!!!!

I choose to have God’s mindset

I choose to know what captures your heart God

I choose to be different

I hope you too can stand up and be counted

Stand up for your creator and make Him proud

For if we can put our best foot forward for worldy acclamations

How much more effort can we put to be ISO heaven certified???

What will it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his life in the end?

*Think about it. Its not easy but its workable to be in this 21^st century and still be counted as a bond servant of Christ like Paul the apostle!!

Well, Fridays and Sundays are more depressing for me

I spend my time lining up for a Double M with my earphones in my ears

And sometimes love, its too painful that I look to the heavens and I shed a tear

I see kids going to Sunday school and I wish we would have had ours

I attend my friends' weddings..

Well love, I see you everywhere

I know it will take some time for you to fade in my life, in my head, in my heart, in my everything

Guess what love!!!

I still compose messages to you and save them as drafts.

It was too early for you to leave love

But God knows why

So I wont get tired of visiting your resting place every year

Dropping you flowers every year

Asking God to take good care of you till we meet again
